Leo Quirk is a trans and genderqueer photographer who focuses on the intersections of gender diversity and spirituality throughout history, its erasure, and contemporary reclamation.

Recent awards include a UTC Art Award for Equity and Inclusion, and a SPE Innovations in Imagemaking award  for the series Transcendence. Notable exhibitions include Thesis Exhibition: Transcendence at Indiana University’s Grunwald Gallery, the Incheon (South Korea) Media Festival in August 2019, and a permanent display at the Indiana University LGBTQ+ Cultural Center.

They hold two bachelor’s degrees from Indiana University: a BSoF in Photography, and a BM in Bassoon Performance, with photo professors James Osamu Nakagawa and Elizabeth Claffey, and bassoon professor William Ludwig.

Upcoming is a self-published book of the project Transcendence with support from IU foundations – Hutton Honors College, LGBTQ+ Cultural Center, and LGBTQ+ Alumni Association – to donate 150 copies to LGBTQ+ libraries and cultural centers around the country.
